Orchard Head Junior, Infant & Nursery School

Pupil Premium Statement

Pupil Premium is funding provided to schools by the Government, in addition to the main school budget funding, as the best way to address inequalities between children who are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) and those pupils whose families are able to afford to pay for school meals. Pupil Premium ensures that no pupil is at a disadvantage, as it funds the pupils who need it most.

In allocating Pupil Premium, the Government recognised that looked-after children (LAC) and children with parents in the armed forces, face additional barriers which may prevent them from reaching their potential. These children also receive Pupil Premium.

Each individual school decides how Pupil Premium is spent, as they know their pupils and are able to assess which pupils require additional provision. It is a requirement of schools to publish information on how Pupil Premium has been spent and how it is instrumental in raising the levels of pupil attainment.
